6. The Results of the Undercover

Winter got more from the undercover interviews than just footage of the puppies for sale and images of adult pit bulls snapping and growling for the camera. He got the sense that the ban was being ignored not just by breeders selling dogs online. One of the breeders admitted to Winter that the dogs were illegal, but said that he hadn’t had issues with the law despite owning the dogs for years. He told Winter he “had never been pulled over” for being in possession of a banned dog. He also said that his veterinarian was aware of the breed of his dogs but that he had never had any problems. “My vet … he loves her. He knows she’s a pit, and he doesn’t care. The vets don’t care,” said the breeder. [1]
